As a pickleball enthusiast who loves spending weekends on the court, I recently had the chance to test out the super adhesive marking tape designed for court layouts. With the rising popularity of pickleball, it was vital for me to have a reliable solution for marking courts, whether it be outdoors or in indoor facilities. Given that I often play on various surfaces including blacktop and concrete, I needed a tape that could withstand different kinds of wear and tear.

The product boasts an impressive 230 ft length, which comfortably covers the standard 198 ft pickleball court with some extra for alignment adjustments. It’s equipped with an industry-leading adhesive designed to bond instantly with asphalt, concrete, hardwood, and gym surfaces, but is not suitable for grass.

During my testing, I laid the tape down on both my driveway and at a local community center. I was pleased to see that the tape initially adhered well to both surfaces. I particularly appreciated how easy it was to handle; simply peel and stick. However, I experienced mixed results over time. For instance, while the tape managed to hold up against vehicle traffic and even the summer heat, I also found corners peeling back after a few months, echoing the feedback from SJB, who mentioned similar issues of her corners not sticking as well anymore.

On the flip side, I encountered the situation described by Neil Hancock, whose experience on blacktop aligned with my own when he noted that it “held strong” until harsh weather conditions intervened. His anecdotal experience gave me encouragement that this tape would make it through seasonal changes decently well. I found it very encouraging that it can withstand UV exposure, light rain, and temperature fluctuations between 40°F-120°F.

However, I did have some concerns about its claimed weather-resistant performance. During a particularly rainy week, some sections of the tape were lifted. This mirrors the feedback from Amer, whose experience with rain caused half of his lines to pull apart. While my experience wasn’t as extreme, it made me question its durability under wet conditions.

Another issue I faced was with the adhesive itself. Just like Stephanie Ellingsworth mentioned, while it was easy to apply at first, removing the adhesive later proved to be a challenge. After a long season, when it came time to remove the tape, I encountered some sticky residue left behind, which required significant effort to clean up. I can see it being a hassle for future maintenance or relocations, only for the added effort to offset the initial ease of application.

Despite these issues, the multi-surface versatility and potential functionality beyond just pickleball — think of it as marking zones for other sports or DIY projects — is a strong selling point. I even used it for marking workout zones in my garage.

In conclusion, the super adhesive marking tape is definitely a solid option for players looking to create or maintain courts easily. Although there are some downsides like peeling and residue left behind when removing, the overall performance in terms of ease of application and initial adhesion is commendable.

I’d rate it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It offers versatility and decent performance for short-term usage, particularly for casual play. However, if you’re looking for something that can withstand heavy rain or extreme temperature changes extensively, I recommend having a backup plan. Still, if you’re after an accessible solution for marking courts, this product will deliver, especially with the understanding that some maintenance may be required.

So, if you want to quickly set up a pickleball court for your next game, give this tape a shot — just keep an eye on those edges if the weather turns!
