I’ve recently had the opportunity to test out the Franklin C45 Dynasty Carbon Fiber Pickleball Paddle, and I must say, it’s a game-changer on the court! As a competitive player who values both power and control, I was eager to see if this paddle could enhance my performance. Equipped with a 14mm thick PowerFlex polymer core, a double-thermoformed unibody frame, and an elongated handle, the C45 seemed poised to deliver on its promises.

From the moment I picked it up, I was impressed by the lightweight design, which ranges from 7.5 to 7.9 oz. The elongated handle at 5.6 inches felt comfortable in my grip, allowing me to maneuver effortlessly during matches. One of the standout features is the 45-degree carbon fiber surface, which provides excellent spin and grit. I found it easy to add shapes to my shots, whether I was executing a finesse dink or going in for a powerful drive.

Overall, I experienced incredible pop on my shots while retaining control—a balance that’s often hard to achieve with many paddles. I recall how Russ, a fellow player, mentioned that he appreciated the great control and power of the paddle, and I can wholeheartedly agree. It’s the perfect vehicle for maximizing a player’s shot potential while feeling secure in their handling of the paddle.

However, I did notice some reports about the paddle being somewhat gimmicky upon initial release. Bob K. pointed out that early versions didn’t have the same grit, but I found that the newer iterations, including mine, had plenty of traction for spin. The paddle had no issues with control or adding shape, a testament to Franklin’s improvements.

One evening, I played multiple sets without any fatigue, thanks to the paddle’s superior grip that absorbs vibration effectively. It made a world of difference during long matches, allowing me to focus more on my game than worrying about the paddle slipping out of my hands. Another reviewer, Jack Schuster, echoed this sentiment by praising the grip and overall control of the paddle.

That said, there are a couple of cons to mention. Some players, including Matthew Pool, suggested modifying the paddle with additional weight for a more pronounced effect. While I appreciated the option for customization, I would have loved to see if Franklin could have provided a more weighted option right out of the box for those who prefer a bit of extra heft.

Additionally, the paddle produced a louder-than-average sound when striking the ball, which might not be to everyone’s liking. DS noted that they experimented with weight adjustments and sound, pointing out that it has a “loud gen3 sound.” That could be a consideration for players who enjoy quieter play or are sensitive to sound.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Franklin C45 Dynasty Paddle. It lived up to its marketing claims, and the paddle’s design and technology really shone through on the courts. It strikes a fantastic balance between power and control, making it a versatile option for competitive play.

If you’re an avid pickleball player looking to improve your game, I’d highly recommend giving this paddle a shot! Whether you’re slamming serves, executing finesse shots, or just looking for that edge in your matches, the C45 delivers on all fronts. Grab one, and join me on the court—your game just might reach new heights!
